Welcome to our practice sanctuary again.
Someone asked, “What do you guys practice every Friday?”
This week, led by Soo Ting, we practiced establishing our core support from the stable foundation in the alignment of our lower back. Without an aligned lower back, we would lose core stability not only in our body, also in our presence of mind.
Our practice is on posture and body alignment but we’re also seeking to view things from a totally different vision. Of course, we must still pay attention to our posture. An upright and relaxed posture always has an elegance that is pleasing to the eyes.
And Catalist is wonderfully useful in helping people find a posture that is light and balanced. It’s not unusual for our to discover that when they are in proper alignment, they feel a pressure centered in the spine that makes them feel light yet strong. By simply allowing the bones to hold the weight they were designed for , the body automatically balances the body’s weight.
However, I didn’t quit my five figure job just to have fun with posture aiming to feel and look nice.
More importantly, a right posture projects energy outward from a stable core. In a stable posture, we can strengthen our relationship with ourselves first. Once our bodily core is established in our practice, we become strong enough to relate with others much better.
At Journey Within, Catalist builds one’s ability to live with core integrity and mindful posture through daily and group practice.
If we do not strengthen the connection with ourselves first, we often are dependent on others for our sense of well-being. Who am I becomes what others think of me. I would then need to control others in order to reassure myself of who I am. Without a good and strong core presence we collapse into a world of codependent relationships to others. In the end, when we depend on others for confirmation, the result is pain, destruction and despair.
Just yesterday someone from our group said “ I have joined various types of jobs and have tried being in various circles of people. I like Yoga circles the most because “Yoga people” are less likely to be swayed by the latest trends while being able to keep the team spirit by preserving the “growing spirit” together as a group.”
It is not easy to keep growing. If we are to master our psychological force, we need some motivation to do so. In our weekly practice sessions, we seek each other’s support for physical and-more importantly-psychological growth into new territory.
Our posture and body alignment practice is our gateway to inner stability so that we do not lose our core balance and become over-obsessed with people and tasks and narrow our world view.
As a Catalist trainer, it is important that we connect to our core’s strength so that we can keep a larger view of life when interacting with person or task before us.
This is the essence of our Friday group practice.
